Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy services at Active Healthcare Management are delivered by a Registered Occupational Therapist (OT). Occupational Therapy is a health care profession that helps people across the lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and play, helping people recovering from injury to regain skills, and providing supports for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Occupational therapy services are provided in Brampton.

Occupational therapists work with individuals who have conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally, or emotionally disabling. They also work with individuals who have had injuries or illnesses that limit their abilities to perform certain tasks. An occupational therapist (OT) assesses the client’s needs and develops a plan of care to promote participation in daily activities. The OT works with the client to achieve their goals and maximize their potential.

Occupational therapy intervention may include:

– education about the disability/injury
– assisting the individual to identify how their symptoms impact their daily life and functioning
– setting functional goals together with the individual
– using activity-based interventions to address the functional goals e.g., task specific training, energy
